ifxclone Question

Good Morning Folks, IDS 11.70.FC7W3X9 AIX 6.1 This may seem a bit long winded but if you have ifxclone knowledge or experience please read on. Recently I clones a rather large instance (approx. 1.5 Tb) for the purpose of doing some performance tuning. I used 4 threads to pull it off and it took just under 3 hours. I then archived the target so that I would have a baseline for my tuning. So far so good. The trouble arose when I restored the cloned instance. I did a PIT restore to just past the archive end time and it wasd asking for logs that never even were created yet on the new system. Ibviously the fact that this came from a cloned system meant to me that the updates happening while cloning were necessary in order to be able to restore. My question before I call IBM Support, is do y'all think this is expected behavior? In my mind all that should have been necessary are the archive objects from the archive on the new system. Anyway, I apologize in advance for being long winded and hope I acurately described my issue. TIA, Dan
ifxclone is based on backup technology. As such, it performs a copy as= of the backup checkpoint - which is done at the start of the backup. It t= hen switches to using RSS technology to catch up the changes which were mad= e during to cloning. I'm assuming that there were open transactions and such when the cloned= system was archived. = From: "DAN MUELLER" <ddmueller@intercall.com> = = To: ids@iiug.org, = = Date: 03/28/2014 08:26 AM = = Subject: ifxclone Question [32843] = = Sent by: ids-bounces@iiug.org = = Good Morning Folks, IDS 11.70.FC7W3X9 AIX 6.1 This may seem a bit long winded but if you have ifxclone knowledge or experience please read on.
