RE: Executing Informix dbaccess in a Windows background environment
Posted in 2007
Hi,
To check options under (3) goto 'Administrative Tools' (either off start menu or control panel menu) then 'Local Security Policy'.
In Local Security Policy expand 'Local Policy' then 'User Rights Assignments'. In the right hand frame will be the policies referred to - just add Informix user to the listed policies. If you can't add to them (greyed out) then policy items have probably been set by Domain Group Policy and the changes have to be made there.
In windows we run dbaccess in a batch file like so:
1) pipe the command to dbaccess like:
echo drop database testDb | dbaccess >> d:\\logs\\db.log 2>>&1
2) to run an sql script:
dbaccess testDb set_privileges.sql >>d:\\logs\\db.log 2>>&1
But we are logged on as Informix on the dbserver for these.
>From a remote machine logged on as Informix the batch file has something like:
Net use y: \\\\DbServer\\c$
call d:\\informix\\testDb.cmd
set path=%path%;y:\\informix\\bin
dbaccess testDb d:\\batch\\nightly_maintenance.sql
If not logged on as Informix I guess you supply user/password in the sql script file.
Not quite understanding what you were trying to do but hope some of this helps maybe.

Subject: Executing Informix dbaccess in a Windows background environment
3) On Windows platforms, make sure the following Advanced User Rights have been assigned to user "informix":
a) Act as part of the operating system;
b) Increase quotas;
c) replace a process level token
Conditions 1 & 2 were fulfilled, but no amount of fiddling with ownership and access rights on the folders helped, although we have not consciously implemented conditions 3a, b & c. Please help, as I am not familiar with this part of Windows.
