How to obtain the number of active users from esql/c.

Does anyone know how to get the number of active Informix users and the total number of Informix licenses using ESQL/C calls. That is, I want to get the two numbers in the last line that "tbstat -u" displays (e.g., 5 active, 20 total) from within a C program. I am trying to avoid the fork() needed to run "tbstat -u" directly in the C program for performance and signal() related reasons. I am running Informix-Online 4.10.UC2.
