the point about "no support" is wildly inaccurate. as a matter of fact, you get all the support you could need (or want) for free. all you have to do is send an e-mail. now, isn't that much better than paying 50000+ for a maintenance contract? -joe- (huddles@hasting.com) ---------- From: ilist To: informix-list Subject: Re: LINUX/sco AND oh yes Unixware Date: Monday, July 24, 1995 9:46AM > > > > > I know you get Linux free, but unless I am wrong, you also *UNLIKELY* to get > > support > > from informix if you run any of their products in this environment. > > -- SNIP -- > > > > > YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR > > > > > Good points, Mark. I was forgetting about support. > You know this really steams me... how did Micro$oft windows and SCO Unix and all the other popular operating system become popular? well people wrote software for them! It sounds like your condemning something well before it's time, not even giving it a chance (what the hell, Informix did...) I just have to point out, there a number of companies out there that would be willing to provide support for the Linux Platform. Most of them are part of the Linux developement team, so they know their stuff. Some things can't be judged on the price tag alone... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- =-= = Jason Lambert Bass, Inc.
