You can define a basic record with sufficient columns of type char(XX). Use it to "foreach" into it. define fr_basic record column1 char(30), column2 char(30), column3 char(30), ... .. .. columnn char(30) end record As long as your record is large enough, you can select the necessary fields successfully. For fancy stuff check the SQLCA record (in particular SQLWARN[2], SQLWARN[4]...). To find out what data type your field is use syscolumns according to the select statement you have built.
