RE: prepared statements with "where current of" failing

Blimey, now you're got me worried. I've got FOREACH USING ... all over the place. No one told me it wasn't supported. Surely everything in the supplements is supported !! -----Original Message----- From: dwilson@gtemail.net [mailto:dwilson@gtemail.net] Sent: 22 October 1999 01:00 To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: prepared statements with "where current of" failing On Fri, 22 Oct 1999 00:36:52 GMT, Gregory King <gking@ibcinc.com> wrote: > > let scratch = "update test_table set the_string = the_string where >current of curs1" > prepare exec_stat from scratch >Informix also told us that this type of statement is no longer >supported. Didn't Informix tell you about the 'cursor_name' (I think) function mentioned in the 4gl supplement? Look there, there's instructions on how to use it. I'd say RTFM, but it is a bit hard to find if you don't know where it is, though I'm sure you could have found this exact problem with the solution on dejanews or in the CDI archives. I'm a bit worried about that part about 'no longer being supported', since its in the supplement, it must be supported (though in a different syntax), so I wonder if you just got an idiot at tech support (likely), or if they're really not going to support preparing that sort of statement (not likely). Its bad enough that a 'USING' clause is not supported with a FOREACH statement. I'd been putting 'OPEN ... USING' before my FOREACH's or using 'FOREACH ... USING' for forever with no problem, then the day I have a problem with it I'm told its not supported. Oh well, now I'm getting offtrack. Maybe if Jonathan reads this he can do something about it ...? :) Cheers, Douglas Wilson
