Mixing esql/c with rds
Posted in 1993
Just want to see if I'm getting the straight poop here... Tech. Support says "it can't be done", but I want to see if anyone has, er, done it... (Not to doubt t.s., but sometimes they'll give the official policy line, whereas there may be some unofficial work-around; I'll take a work-around.) "It" is making a new RDS 4.10 p-code runner (via cfglgo) that uses ESQL/C 5.00 code. That is, "cfglgo ... foo.ec". TechSpt says that if one uses 4.1(?) ESQL/C, all is well, just not 5.00. After some poking around, it appears to be a library problem, yet I couldn't find an ordering or set of inclusions/exclusions that worked. So my question is, specifically: Has anyone done this exact thing? If so, what have you done? I'm *not* looking for suggestions of "maybe if you try..." -- I don't have time to play with it any more, I'm just asking if anyone has *already* dealt with this exact problem. Second question: assuming I have to revert to version 4 of esql/c, what will I be missing from v5? V5 is the first one I've used. Third: Any tips on how to install both v5 (for standalone, non-rds use) and v4 (for mixing with rds)? -- Andrew Burt aburt@du.edu "But if he was dying he wouldn't bother to carve "Aaaaargh", he'd just say it."
