Control level 0 Restore Time

Hello,
IDS 11.10 FC3 on solaris 10
I restore a level 0 backup using "ontape -r" on one of my instance every week
using a shell script running as cron job
Last week it took about 12 hrs to restore a compressed level 0 bkp file of
size 60878644133 bytes (gunzip -3).
This week the compressed level 0 backup file size 61313509503 bytes took more
than 15 hrs to complete the restoration. No changes made to this server or to
any config parameter for this instance.
sure the bkp size is little more but i dont think that its more enough to
increase the restore time by 3hrs.
The level 0 bkp files are on NAS so there can be issue of slow NAS which we
are investigating.
Untill then i would like to know what else could be the issue for this
extended restore time?
Also is there any other way to speed up the restoration ( NO ONBAR pls)?
By using pipe i can restore(ontape -r) the level 0 simultaneously when the
level 0 (ontape -s -L 0) is running, will this reduce the restore time?
I need a level 0 file on the disk, Is it possible to use pipe to restore
simultaneously and at the same time create a level 0 file on the disk as well?
In onconfig, OFF_RECVRY_THREADS 10. would increasing this value help in faster
recovery(ontape -r).
Regards,
Vikas
one more info:
The restoration is carried on a server having 2 dual core CPU's.

Vikas

Vikas,
What other activity is going on at the same time as the restore? You
mentioned the backup files are on NAS. What's going on on the network
at the time of your restore? Perhaps new network activity has been
added that will slow down the throughput on your ontape restore....
perhaps once you pass the 12th hour of your restore, some other network
activity starts which might dramatically slow down your restore ....
what I am trying to say is that it may not be a problem with your
ontape, it may just be more traffic on the network especially during the
12th thru 15th hours... so you may need to adjust the time you start
your restore?
Good luck,
NJ
