ODBC for SuSE Linux
Posted in 2007
A user wanted a free/open-source ODBC driver so a Python app on SuSE Linux could reach an Informix server over the LAN, wanting to avoid paying DataDirect. Respondents pointed him to unixODBC as the driver manager, and noted that the ODBC/CLI driver itself ships with the Informix Client SDK (iClient/CSDK, downloadable from IBM's Informix tools page), which works fine on SuSE/openSUSE once configured under unixODBC. The poster thanked everyone, so the question was effectively answered.

I need to get hold of an ODBC driver that I can use out of Python to access an Informix database on another server on the same LAN. The server that will host the Python app, runs SusSE Linux. I know I can get from DataDirect.com, but I have to pay for that. Was wondering if there is an open source solution out there somewhere? Thanks Erhard Eiselen
Look at www.unixodbc.org. ________________________________ "Erhard Eiselen" <eis@tad.co.za> Sent by: To ids-bounces@iiug. ids@iiug.org org cc Subject 03/07/2007 13:50 ODBC for SuSE Linux [9491] Please respond to ids@iiug.org I need to get hold of an ODBC driver that I can use out of Python to access an Informix database on another server on the same LAN. The Informix Client (iClient) and Informix Software Development Kit (iSDK) for Linux both contain the ODBC client libraries (CLI). Art S. The driver provided with the Informix SDK for Linux will work fine on SuSE/openSUSE when properly configured in the unixODBC manager.
You can download IBM Informix CSDK (i.e ODBC, ESQL/C, OLEDB, .NET etc) from following link (On right bottom corner there is link to download CSDK) http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/informix/tools/csdk/ -Shesh "Erhard Eiselen" <eis@tad.co.za> Sent by: ids-bounces@iiug.org 03/07/2007 17:20 Please respond to ids@iiug.org To ids@iiug.org cc Subject ODBC for SuSE Linux [9491] I need to get hold of an ODBC driver that I can use out of Python to access an Informix database on another server on the same LAN.
