shared memory limitations

Hi folks does someone know what are the maximum shared memory size that can be used both in IDS9 and IDS10 Thanks
That depends on the system and whether you are using a 32bit or 64bit version
of the engine not on the engine version level. For example on Sun/Soalris/
Sparc with a 32bit process you can attach up to 3.18GB of shared memory in a
small application (though you can create about 3.21GB you cannot attach it all
to your address space). For applications like IDS's oninit that are larger
than my trivial test program and need to reserve some address space for dynamic
link libraries the actual number may be smaller.
For a 64bit app on the same platform I kill my test app after it had attached
to 10,256 16MB shared memory segments or about 16.25GB for fear of dragging the
system to its knees.
Unless I get swamped with requests, I'll send my test app source to anyone who
wants it.

I think it depends on the system.. but I used to think it has a relatio= n with your setting in /etc/system (shmsys:shminfo_shmmax) Manoj = "GEORGES MARTIN" = <georges_martin_1 = @hotmail.com> = To Sent by: ids@iiug.org = ids-bounces@iiug. = cc org = Subj= ect shared memory limitations [9850= ] 08/23/2007 07:37 = AM = = = Please respond to = ids@iiug.org = = = Hi folks does someone know what are the maximum shared memory size that can be u= sed both in IDS9 and IDS10 Thanks ***********************************************************************= ******** Forum Note: Use "Reply" to post a response in the discussion forum. =
