Mike Magie upgraded to CSDK 3.50.FC7 on 64-bit Windows 2003 and SQL Server 2008 linked servers using Ifxoledbc to IDS 11.50.UC6 failed with Access denied and IID_IDBSchemaRowset errors. The old Microsoft OLE DB provider worked on a test box, and 32-bit 3.50.TC5 worked on a laptop. No answer in the thread.

Products and OS:
Windows 2003 64 bit
Informix CDSK 3.50.FC7
Solaris 10
Informix IDS 11.50.UC6
SQL Server 2008
Problem:
We upgraded our Informix SDK version to 3.50.FC7 from I believe
3.00.FCSOMETHING> Post upgrade none of our SQL Server 2008 linked servers will
pull data from the Informix databases they point to. When I query from the SQL
Server side I can see my session popup on the Informix side w/o any errors -
however on the SQL Server side I get the following (the linked server name is
MIKE)
select * from openquery (MIKE, 'select * from systables')
Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The OLE DB provider "Ifxoledbc" for linked server "MIKE" reported an error.
Access denied.
Msg 7350, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Cannot get the column information from OLE DB provider "Ifxoledbc" for linked
server "MIKE".
I am connecting as user informix and have ran the doledb.sql and coledb.sql
jobs on the Informix side. The connectivity if fine - Setnet32 and Ilogin work
fine, as does the test connectivity inside the actual linked server - like I
said I see the session on the Informix side w/o errors or anything. I am
stumped. I installed the 32 bit version 3.50.TC5 on my laptop and can create
linked servers and access Informix data all day - seems there is something
with the 64 bit version.
ANY IDEAS?????

Also - just an fyi - I did create the new linked servers using the new
ifxoledbc provider. Looks like this:
Provider: IBM Informix OLE DB Provider
Product Name: ifxoledbc
Data source: database@dbservername
We connect using the security context of user informix on the unix box.

This just in...
When we created a new linked server using the old Microsoft OLE DB Provider we
were good to go on a test box. Using the ifxoledbc pukes still.
ALSO - on the "good" box we are running SQL Server 2008 R2 on the bad one
R1... I dunno.

More info - I get a different error (using ifxoledbc as the provider) when I
try to access system catalog tables via SSMS. This one is:
Cannot obtain the required interface ("IID_IDBSchemaRowset")from oledb
provider "Ifxoledbc" for linked server "MIKE". (Microsoft SQL Server error
7399)
