Cancelling Insert/Delete in Input Array

Anyone got a good technique for aborting inserts or deletes inside the input array code? At the moment, the only way I can see is to save the line (delete) check validity then if disallowed, loop moving all array vals up by 1 subscript then insert the saved record in its original spot. For cancelled inserts, decrement by 1. then redisplay. This will work, but it's a pain. A CANCEL DELETE and CANCEL INSERT would be a nice addition to the syntax.
