KCM Wrote, I just started working with the Oracle8 database myself. First i took a standard Oracle DBA course, at Oracle education. I found that the course, while pretty tough, gave me a good understanding of the Oracle system architecture, which is important to understand if yo which the DBA duties correct. After that, i purchased a self study book called 'Teach yourself Orcale8 in 21 days'. With the DBA course as background, i'm now flying through the self study course and things seem to go real well. Bottom line is that Oracle is a quite complex system. Understanding it's architecture will really help you. Good luck..
