Re: Logical Log Backups.

Assuming you're using OnLine 7.x, you can customize the alarm program to
send out an e-mail or page when the logical logs get close to full. A
message automatically is generated by the engine when all but one of the log
files are full. If you have an alarm program, it will process this message.
Check out the chapter on alarm programs in the documentation.
For the record, if you make it a point to monitor using onstat -l on a
frequent basis, you'll see whether or not the logs are backing up (whether
or not the status goes to "B"). If you check it, and find that they're not,
then the tape is probably full. The alarm won't kick in until well after
the tape fills, because it won't fire until almost all of the logs have
filled without being backed up.
