Most recently yesterday, in fact. The only solution we know is to remove every vestage of the installation and start over. To do this run any INFORMIX uninstall programs you have. Then remove the INFORMIX directories. Then use REGEDT32.EXE to remove the INFORMIX entries from the registry. Be very careful to only remove INFORMIX entries (unless you want to reinstall NT!) Log in as administrator and then reinstall INFORMIX. In regard to your other question about INFORMIX not being able to create the root dbspace: If this occurs again look at the file C:\\informix\\etc\\buildsmi.out and follow the instructions therein. That will be something like log in as INFORMIX and run oninit. Then wait until it builds the dbspace. This will take a long time. Hope this helps you out. Dave.
