Paranoia and Secrecy SQL -932 error

Hello I tried this once before and got little response. i am starting to believe that there is some kind of conspiracy behind the unwillingness of somebody...ANYBODY...to let the cat out of the bag. I am plagued with the WSANODATA getservbyname error when trying to access the oregon water resource departments well database using Informix-Net 5.01. I have exhausted the tech support at OWRD...they quit! I know that there is NO PROBLEM with my services or hosts file as is the standard reply when people make posts of this sort. I have seen veiled references to this being a known bug in Informix 5.01 and that Informix tech support has the solution. Has no-one contacted tech support??? I have tried and was dismissed as being unsupported. Somebody HELP ME to keep the groundwater in Oregon safe for human consumption. thanks Marty
