Running stored procedure when disconnected

We have a requirement to start a stored procedure on the server and then
disconnect the client computer. This is with 9.4, W2K Server and using
Terminal Server for client access. The application is in VB6 and the stored
procedure is running month-end processing during the night.
I thought of using a trigger to fire the stored procedure but as it has to be
handled within a transaction then that does not work. In SQL Server one can
use the service broker but I don't know of any equivalent for IDS 9.4.
The other way was possibly to use a command line script with dbaccess.
So do you have any other suggestions as how to resolve this?
Many thanks in advance,
Ian Logan
Apparently what you need to do is to schedule a database process. Just that.
Use the scheduler in windows and run some application. As you mention,
dbaccess could be an option.
Regards.

Informix doesn't have an internal task scheduler prior to version 11.10, so
your only option is a script launched by a user under 'nohup' or by a cron
or at job that uses either dbaccess or Jonathan Leffler's sqlcmd to execute
the stored procedure.
