Informix SHMEM file in /tmp
Posted in 1999
Thanks for the help! Can anyone give me info about the SHMEM%%%% file that is created in /tmp when the instance is started? Is it created only during initialization of Informix and removed after Informix is up? How do you determine the amount of space needed in /tmp to handle this file? -----Original Message----- From: Paul watson [mailto:watsop@russellcorp.co.uk] Sent: Friday, August 06, 1999 11:26 AM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: Tuning Shared Buffers Start with 25% of RAM and go from there. We have 512 megs of memory and about 75 concurrent users. An Informix consultant said we should set it to 20 megs but I feel that is too small. Does 150 megs sound appropriate? (2 megs per user).... And thanks for the help on the upgrading from 4.1.2 to 7.2.4.... We're running more test today. Valerie H.
