omni-directional cascading Enterprise Replication
Posted in 2003
I have already opened a case and I'm working with Support on this, but wanted to get some additional feedback. I'm currently running IDS 7.3.UD3-1. I'm trying to do cascading replication from my primary down to my read only children. So basically I have a production instance named A and two read only instances (for reporting) called B and C. What I want to happen is any updates that are made to A are replicated to B. Then I have defined another replicant that takes any updated to B down to C. What actually happens is that the data replicated down from A-B does not continue on to C. Yet inserts (for testing purposes) made to B directly, are copied to C. Is A-B B-C possible? I found other posts that says it is not, but one that seems to say if it is one directional, that it can be done. I can get it to replicate A-B and A-C, so I know the set up is correct, but I'm concerned about the performance, because their are actually multiple C-level servers I need to go to. I would rather use B as the driver to populate the C's rather than A. Thanks for any input.
