configure vpclass on multicore systems (solaris)

Hi, I have a doubt on what the optimal onconfig VPCLASS parameter should be on multicore systems. For example, on a Sun M4000 server, with 4 physical CPUs and 4 cores per CPU, when you issue an uname -X to get the number of CPUs, I get: lafeoriclu1-[PROD]-(dbpoc):~ $ uname -X | grep -i numcpu NumCPU = 16 but there are, as I said, only 4 physical CPUs. Does the VPCLASS parameter refer always to physical CPUs or can it on some architectures refer to CPU cores? Thanks a lot, Gerardo

Say, #cores - 1 for safety's sake, if there's nothing else on the box. Dual threading? Please don't go there. :o) -- Cheers, Obnoxio The Clown http://obotheclown.blogspot.com -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by OpenProtect(http://www.openprotect.com), and is believed to be clean.
For sun M class processors you can treat each core as an independent CPU. = That means that you can configure at least 15 cpu vps. If the machine is = dedicated to IDS you can overconfigure 1 cpu vp per core per 450mhz of spee= d.
