IDS and kaio on RHEL
Posted in 2007
On 64-bit RHEL AS 4, IDS 10.0FCx started with "libaio.so.1: cannot open shared object file" and "Kernel Asynchronous I/O is disabled". The poster first blamed the newer libaio-0.3.105-2 package (downgrading to 0.3.102-1 appeared to fix it), but then corrected himself: the real cause was that only the 32-bit (i386) libaio was installed, while 64-bit IDS needs the x86_64 build. Installing the matching 64-bit libaio resolved it; another user confirmed libaio-0.3.105-2 works fine when the right architecture packages are present.

10.0FCx and FC6 on RHEL 4
Be careful when installing IDS FCwhatever on very new versions of RHEL AS 4.
The newest versions have the libaio module libaio-0.3.105-2
Trying to runIDS kaio with this gives:
17:43:04 libaio.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file ordirectory
17:43:04 Please install libaio package. See machine notes.
17:43:04 Warning: Kernel Asynchronous I/O is disabled.
If the old version libaio-0.3.102-1 is replaced it all works fine:

and in /usr/lib what libaio.so.* was there and did you try symlinking it
to libaio.so.1?

Good point, and one of my colleagues has since pointed out that I am talking
bollocks, and that it has nothing to do with the version of libaio.
The issue is that on RHEL AS the 32bit (.i386) version of libaio is
installed. You need to remove it and install the correct 64bit version
(.x86_64) of libaio fo 64-bit IDS.

Sure the processor can handle 64bits, however your OS is 32bit. IMHO, you're asking for trouble mixing and matching 64bit apps on 32bit OS. You're better off going with a 64bit distro. _________________________________________________________________ Talk now to your Hotmail contacts with Windows Live Messenger. http://get.live.com/messenger/overview

I'm running 64-bit IDS on 64-bit RHEL on a 64-bit server.

I think that there is missing package in "Compatibility Arch Support" or
"Legacy Software Development"
