[Q] MS-Access & ODBC (Again)

Okay, I know that people have asked this question before, but I am brave enough to ask it again (or foolish enough). Thanks for understanding. I want to develop a client for an INFORMIX-ONLINE 5.01 server running on a SCO UNIX box, with no I-NET on it (we bought a production system which uses ON-Line but no I-Net). My client is going to be MS-Access through ODBC drivers running on ethernet, through a TC/PIP layer. [Q] How much slower would the MS-Access/ODBC configuration be then a I-Net/I-Star/NewEra configuration? [Q] Is it possible to implement I-NET and I-STAR and use Access/ODBC?
