Re: Informix and Oracle in the same shop

Informix AND Oracle on the same machine.... Wouldn't recommend it, but guess it depends on the size of the machine and the volume of work being performed by each server. I setup a system with both on a SCO machine, did not have any problems loading them but you have to watch the kernel parameters for shared memory etc. Oracle automatically sets these, informix advise you which ones to set. The 2 environments were never used heavily at the same time. The 2 have different requirements which you need to compromise on. The only other area to watch out for if they are both going to be heavily used database environments is how you allocate disk space. If you have the luxury, make sure that they don't share disks.
