You can find these steps in the "Informix Guide to SQL Tutorial",
on page 10-12 of the December 1991 edition. (The version that I happen
to have at hand.) You can download the latest version of this manual
in electronic form from the Informix web site at http://www.informix.com .
Also, they have been put into program form and are on the web site of
the International Informix Users Group at http://www.iiug.org .
(Follow the links through "Software", "Index", to the "Database
Administration" section.
I like to set the first extent size sufficient to hold the
entire table's data (records per day * days required to store)
and set the next extent size to a similar value even though it
won't be used for next extents--it is used for other parameter
sizing by the engine.
Be sure to read the section on extent concatenation as well.
