Backup script? "ontape" utility?

Hi all .. I am new to Informix but an Oracle DBA (7, 8, 8i). I don't have a lot of time to get up to speed on configuring our local Informix server for backups so I am hoping there is a quick and dirty way of backing up this database (so I can come back to it later). We are running w/Informix Dynamic Server, 7.3.1.UC2. Thanks. -Mike

Howdy. Welcome to the One True Way.

Easiest way is:
ontape -s -L 0
This will do a full "level zero" archive to whatever tape device is
specified next to TAPEDEV in your $INFORMIXDIR/etc/$ONCONFIG file.
Both $INFORMIXDIR and $ONCONFIG are env vars.
