4GLs that disappear

Has anyone seen this or am I going nuts? You write a 4gl program under 1 userid. You compile it under another. You get an error indicating a problem with the backup file. The 4bl. You exit out of i4gl and both the 4gl and 4bl are empty files I guess the source and the compiled have to be owned by the same user. This happened to me twice. I'm working here in this case with I4GL version 4.1 . Sun OS 4.1.3 I've learned my lesson.
