Informix doesn't run on 2.2.x kernels. Some kernel parameters in 2.2.x are too small. There was a posting about that some time ago. I posted the code two months ago. FYI RH6.0, due out this week, will reportedly have these changes incorporated already. Art S. Kagel
Hi Art, these pathces break NFS (at least in our SUSE distribution). It's probably an issue with glibc2.0. Haven't tried 2.1, yet. Peter "Art S. Caviat emptor I suppose! The few reports I had seen had these changes working without error, looks like there are other related variables or unchecked code which must also be changed. I suppose we'll have to wait for RH6.0 and see how the folk at Red Hat got it all working. Art S. Kagel

Red Hat certainly got it right; the # open files patch, NFS, etc. all work fine on 6.0, and IDS works fine on it... -- Alan Denney yosemite at accesscom.com "Linux is an open-source operating system produced by Red Hat Software Inc." -- Dow Jones wire story, 3/18/99
