hi guys, i have two databases, an informix and a sql server running in two different machines. is it possible to have some of the tables from informix as views in sqlserver and vise versa, so that when i insert in the view data gets transferred to the other machine and inserted there? i don't want to replicate any data. is there any commercial product that can do this? thanx for your time and any info, Z.

I am not sure about for SQL server but Informix has the Informix Enterprise Gateway Manager: http://www-3.ibm.com/software/data/informix/tools/egm/ It can use ODBC drivers, so as long as you have one to access SQL server you shouldn't have any problems. Once set up it makes the SQL server database look like an Informix database (it has an entry in sqlhosts). You can then create views on it if you wish. I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish with views of Informix tables in the SQL server database but you may be able to just create the tables in SQL server and have views of them in Informix.
