Intersolv Informix conflict

I have a 32-bit application which makes two connections to an Informix database: One through an ESQL/C DLL using native Informix, and one through Visual Basic 5.0 using an ODBC driver through ODBC Direct. The problem is that the ODBC connection clobbers the native Informix connection -- both cannot be up simultaneously. The native Informix connect in the DLL is simple: $DATABASE dbname This only happens with Intersolv's Informix drivers. It does not happen with Informix' own Informix ODBC drivers. Further. All of this worked fine in a 16-bit environment.
