I've been reading the NewEra documentation in my spare time this week and it looks like a lovely product. I can't wait to get into it, but I don't think it's something you should rush into - I'm planning on doing a lot more reading and a lot more thinking before I start coding. (I really don't want to make the same sort of stupid mistakes with NewEra that the people who originally wrote the 4GL application I work with did) BTW: You're a crazy man for using the "informix" account for anything other than Informix administration.
