Hi all We are attempting to migrate our NewEra dev environment and have sucessfully installed 3.11 and created a simple project. Now we are getting error messages during the compile/build: "IPC ERROR/INFORMATION" "DDEML Error : DMLERR_DATAACTTIMEOUT" The dialog box displays several reasons/suggestions which point to the server being overloaded or not responding. Informix Support said that there have been reports of this error but they couldn't find an answer. They will have to call back. I also explained that the App builder and our project takes a long time to start which seems to be a connection issue. Support said they were probably related. Anyone else ran into this problem and have a solution? TIA Dev environment is NT4 service pack 3

Our solution was to move development back to Win95 OSR2 8( Informix tech support were unable to solve the problem, though when dicussing a different problem with them some time later, an engineer said something like "oh yeah, that problem's been fixed, and there's a patch available" - mind you, it's funny howey never bothered to send us it, so much for customer service. The engineer who that quote is from was anitam@informix.com, by the way. Currently, we develop on Win95 then test on NT4 - using the NewEra 3.11 deployment libraries (which work fine) - before releasing. It's a pain, but that's the only way we could get it to work. Ah ha! Just remembered what the NT problem was! (only had one cup-o-java this morning, so my brains a bit slow 8) If you log into the network (NT Domain) when you start using the PC, NewEra will fail to work. If you just log into the machine itself, it works. Now, this is a total waste of time in any realistic setup, which is why we rolled back to Win95 - which was a bit of a pain as we'd just invested in dual CPU machines, grrrr 8( Anyway, hope you get sorted out. BTW - Check out the NewEra Windows Toolkit (NEWT) on our web site (see sig), you may find it useful. Cheers, -- David ______________________________________ David C. We develop under NT4 SP3 with NE 3.11 and found as David says that if you are using the 'local' machine for your private repositories, then NE is fine. However, once you login into a domain, NE will not connect to your 'local' SE server. We have a development HP-UX server where we run IDS 7.3. We use this for our private repositories and were advised to do this by people at Informix here in Australia. There are issues regarding tuning IDS in regard to building applications with NE 3.11. If you have any queries please feel free to ask. Richard Lewis Gerling Global Pty Ltd Australia (A satisfied user of the dch libraries from dchSoftware) David C.
