Getting a strange data space error

Hi. I am getting this strange error -4339 when I compile and run a 4gl report with Informix 7.2 on Solaris 2.6 -4339 4GL has run out of data space memory. The program is too large to compile. Divide it into modules, and compile the modules separately. This is despite my dividing and subdividing the program into very small modules. I have some large strings (of size 1023), that I need to prepare large queries to fill a temporary table. The error comes after the query is executed, while printing the report. I am not getting the same error if I compile the program with Informix 6.04 on Solaris 2.5.1 and run. Please advise. Thanks, Pawan.

The error is occurring at run time, so the subsidiary information is not relevant -- please report it to doc@informix.com as an erratum. > This is despite my dividing and subdividing the program into very small > modules. Educated guess. You're using OnLine and a shared memory connection. You haven't set INFORMIXSHMBASE and the default value being used is too small (or you have set it to a value whichy is too small). Set it to some large value (perhaps like 0x8000000, but that's a guess from memory). If I'm right, the problem is that the shared memory address allocated for the communication with the database is preventing malloc() from allocating more memory for the report. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
