Undocumented value in syscolauth.colauth
Posted in 1993
Using OnLine 5.00, if you create a view which contains a virtual column,
Online sets systabauth.tabauth = "S-*-D---" (assuming full privileges on
the underlying object). It also creates syscolauth entries for each of
the non-virtual columns in the view, but instead of a colauth value of
"-U-" SELECT * FROM syscolauth; reports colauth values of "-UX".
However, SELECT * FROM syscolauth WHERE colauth = "-UX"; returns zero
rows!
Further investigation shows that colauth actually contains "-U\\330", ie
the third character is ASCII 216 (d8 hex). The dbaccess front-end
appears to be expecting and intercepting this value and replacing it
with an "X"!!!
Does this mean that we have some kind of undocumented feature here, or
is it just another "bug"?
Any of you gurus out there have any ideas?

We have the technology. The tricky bit is learning how to use it.
