I-Star and Views: Problem resolved

Thanks to all who responded to my earlier posting. To recap, the problem was: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Created a view of a remote database. Creator of the view attempted to grant SELECT permission on the view to other users - got Informix error indicating the owner of the view was not, in fact, the owner of the view. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most of the responses indicated the view creator needed GRANT priveleges on the underlying table. The dba had already given GRANT priveleges on the under- lying table, so we were going nowhere. Until we tried to do it again... The view creator *MUST* have GRANT priveleges on the underlying table *BEFORE* the view is created. If they get the GRANT priveleges *after* the view is created, you get the problem we got! Since the creator has those priveleges now, we dropped the original view and recreated it. Bango! No problems. Thanks again for all the responses. - Mike Waters
