Informix has had free type 4 drivers for some time - check their web site

Could you please tell me in which port number does the informix listen for
TCP connection?
Is there any default port number available ?
And if not how can I know in which port number its now listening ?
Will it be available in the /etc/services directory in the Unix host ??
Please answer me
Waiting
Thanks & Regards

I am not sure if there is a default port number.
Check in /etc/services for more information. Typically I have come
across port numbers in the range of 1541 thru 1550.
Again the relationship between the port and the Informix engine happens
in the sqlhosts file in the "etc" directory where the Informix s/w is
installed. Proper configuration is a must to access the engine through
a TCP/IP connection.
/etc/services entry example:
sqlexec 1542/tcp
sqlhosts file example:
infx_db_shm onipcshm yourhostname infx_db_shm
infx_db_soc onsoctcp yourhostname sqlexec
The first line in the sqlhost file (above example) configures informix
to handle shared memory connections. The second line configures
informix to use the "sockets" and associates your computer to the port
number 1542 using the service sqlexec.
Again this does not end here. Your onconfig file needs to be configured
for defining the environment for the engine and how to allow
connections.
Typically DBSERVERNAME and DBSERVERALIAS and NETTYPE are the key
parameters associated with the communication issues of the engine.
DBSERVERNAME could be referring to the shared memory connection
(infx_db_shm) and DBSERVERALIAS could be referring to the TCP/IP
connection infx_db_soc.
Example:
DBSERVERNAME infx_db_shm # Name of default database server
DBSERVERALIASES infx_db_soc # List of alternate dbservernames
NETTYPE ipcshm,1,50,CPU # Configure poll thread(s) for nettype
NETTYPE soctcp,1,50,NET # Configure poll thread(s) for nettype
Hope this helps.
