Re: Insider #59: IDS Express
Posted in 2005
A poster asked whether a trial or beta of the newly announced IDS Express 10 exists and whether its performance matches regular IDS 10. Art Kagel answered that IDS Express is the same IDS 10.00 engine, differing only in licensing and some disabled features, so performance on identical hardware is the same as Workgroup or Enterprise Edition; trials can be obtained via IBM sales reps or Passport Advantage. Others offered IBM contacts or suggested going through an Informix reseller. A follow-up question about a free developer edition for a home Linux box went unanswered.

Interesting. Any one knows if there is a trial/beta for the express? It performs as equal or best that normal IDS 10? You should be able to get a trial of any IBM software either through PA if you have it or through your IBM sales rep or sales office. > It performs as equal or best that normal IDS 10? IDS Express 10.00 IS IDS 10.00. Only the licensing issues and some flags turning off verboten features are changed. Performance on the same box configured the same way is the same for IDS WorkGroup Edition, Express Edition, or Enterprise Edition. Art S. You could do but if you get stuck I'm ALWAYS here. I don't want anyone saying that Informix is not well supported or that they are having trouble getting what they need.
