Agreed; SQLCODE and sqlca.sqlcode error numbers are always negative. However, there's also SQLSTATE, which can be found via GET DIAGNOSTICS. And that leads us to the answer -- the GET DIAGNOSTICS section of the 9.1 manuals documents 07003 as 'Cursor specification cannot be executed'. I'm not clear what that really means. It might that the you're trying to EXECUTE a cursor, perhaps? Interesting note: there is no standardized way of getting the SQLSTATE codes translated into text.
