Setup:
Informix 9.14 running on Sparc 450 with Solaris 2.6
How can I get Informix to start up at boot time and running as user =
informix.
I have successfully started up informix at boot time by setting =
informix's environment variables and running oninit in the rc2.d =
directory, but then the engine is run by user ROOT. I would like it to =
run as user: Informix.
Thanks in advance.

David,
I did this at my last job. In the startup script in rc2.d, run the oninit
command with the following:
su informix -c $INFORMIXDIR/bin/oninit
if [ $? != 0 ]
then
echo "Informix could not be started"
fi
Read the man page for "su" to find out more.

Try the "su -c" command, using a shell script as the command. The script
should set up the environment and start "oninit".
