Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Hi,
I am using IDS 11.70 for Red Hat Linux and SDK3.70 32-bit for Windows.
The locales setup in the IDS server are the following:
DB_LOCALE=pl_pl.1250
CLIENT_LOCALE=pl_pl.1250
The problem is the following:
I load text in the database via a client application which uses the SDK.
The text includes polish characters (character set 8859_2). The text is loaded
succesfully but some polish characters are not correctly displayed or
extracted from the DB because 1250 and 8859_2 character sets are not 100%
identical.
Is there a way to load text in 8859_2 character set but translated correctly
into 1250 without changing the character set of the text?
Thanks,
Vasilis

If you want to have characterset ISO-8859-2 in the front end you have to set
the CLIENT_LOCALE=pl_pl.8859-2.
Then on transfer from client to server a conversion will happen.
But this will only work completely if the polish characters used are in both
charactersets, just on different positions.
