: I've got the same error in a different situation.
: The problem occured with paralel access to a table with a small
: number of rows. Since the table was in page-lock mode, the first
: access to the small table locked almost the whole index, and a paralel
: access was not possible (SQL -245).
: A possible way out of this is to
: 1) modify the table to row-lock mode AND/OR
: 2) set the isolatin level to dirty read
: I don't know if 2) is possible with stored procedures.
It is......but a less drastic solution is to SET LOCK MODE TO WAIT. You
can specify a time limit to wait or wait forever. This is done at the
application level. Unless the application otherwise needs to operate with
no concurrency control, DIRTY READ should not be an accecptable solution.
