It depends on which language you're talking about. If it is I4GL, then you should be using a 4.1x (x >= 4), and you can add the -shared option to make the I4GL programs use the I4GL shared library. You can also enforce this by setting C4GLFLAGS="-shared" in your environment, or adding " -shared" to the end of your current C4GLFLAGS environment variable. If you're using ESQL/C, you are probably stuck -- ESQL/C 5.0x does not, in general, have shared libraries. If you want to write your own shared libraries, that's fine; both ESQL/C and I4GL will use them.
