RE: moving chunk from one disk to another (IT worked)

It worked beautifully!!!! I chose to use the mirrored approach. We already use mirrors so all I had to do was mark the to-be-removed chunk as down, create the new chunk, relink the character device to the new raw device and finally, tell Informix that I want to bring the chunk back up. It was flawless and easy, without ever having to bring the engine down. Informix re-mirrored the data to the new chunk automatically and it took only 20 minutes for a two gig chunk.
