BEGIN WORK results in syntax error

I've recently installed INFORMIX (dbaccess Ver: 5.0.) When trying to execute a transaction containing BEGIN WORK I get syntax error(201). When I tried to execute each line in the transaction separately no error occurred. It seems like the error always refers to the first character of the line directly following BEGIN WORK. For example: BEGIN WORK LOCK TABLE stock IN EXCLUSIVE MODE COMMIT WORK Results in: 201: A syntax error has occurred. Error in line 2 Near character position 0 I have tested to create databases both with "LOG MODE ANSI" and plain "LOG MODE" and both modes give the same result. Any suggestions...
