spawning tbinit

Hello everyone, I hope someone has some advice ?! I am running informix online 4.1 on a sperry 5000-95. I was testing different block sizes on the archive tape device and I noticed that it was taking too long so I interupted the process. I modified the parameters and tried another archive and received and I/O error 14, bad address. I then reformated the drive and no new bad blocks were written so I reinitialized and imported the db again. This time I have two tbinit processes running? One actually spawns the other. I took online offline and checked the processes and shared memory and both are empty. I tbinited the system and checked, now I have two tbinit processes again?
