I am trying to install Informix Internet Foundation 2000 (9.20.uc1-1) Development Version, on Red Hat 6.1, using rpm. After installating the IDS.RPM successfully however I noticed no esql executable anywhere to be found. Later when I rpm the ICONNECT/LINUX/CONNECT.RPM file on the same machine I get the message: error: failed dependencies: libifgls.so is needed by iconn-2.30.UC1-1 libifglx.so is needed by iconn-2.30.UC1-1 JDBC installation also fails. I am trying to figure out whether because I purchased the development version, and not the run time version - that I have possibly some limitation and no esql, libifgls.so, libifglx.so and other files and therefore have no complete install? Also, can anyone tell me how many CD's are supposed to come with the IIF Development Version? I only received two. Much appreciated. TIA, Moses

That's probably because it comes with Client SDK and not with Foundation.2000. > Later when I rpm the ICONNECT/LINUX/CONNECT.RPM file on the same > machine I get the message: > > error: failed dependencies: > libifgls.so is needed by iconn-2.30.UC1-1 > libifglx.so is needed by iconn-2.30.UC1-1 This is an irritating well-known problem. Use '--nodeps' on the RPM command line. And ignore the duplicate file messages for all the GLS files. > JDBC installation also fails. > > I am trying to figure out whether because I purchased the development > version, and not the run time version - that I have possibly some > limitation and no esql, libifgls.so, libifglx.so and other files and > therefore have no complete install? No; you're just missing a product. You can get CSDK for free from Intraware: http://www.intraware.com/ > Also, can anyone tell me how many CD's are supposed to come with the IIF > Development Version? I only received two. I'm surprised you needed that many, but I guess I-Connect and Foundation.2000 are separate products and therefore come on separate disks. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.95 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
