Hi there I realise this is probably a frequently asked question, but i have had little success with dejanews. I am trying to get a connection going between an Informix database server running under sco, and an IIS v4.0 server -Informix 7.42 -Informix ODBC Drivers 3.30.0000 230.TC1 I have created a system odbc data source called property, that has all the details necessary to connect to it with ms query without needing to supply a password or anything (and i can successfully query that data source). However, i have not as yet been able to connect to it using ADODB in active server pages. i have read up on ADO off of informix's site and what to do with iis, but it doesnt want to work for me - i get the following message when putting the code they supplied in an asp file: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' [Informix][Informix ODBC Driver][Informix]Database not found or no system permission. sqlerrm(systables) this message is in reference to the Connection.Open line in my asp source. Set theConnection = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") theConnection.ConnecionTimeout = 15 theConnection.CommandTimeout = 30 i have tried the following open commands with no success: theConnection.Open "dsn=property;username=xxx;password=xxx;DATABASE=property;APP=ASP Script" theConnection.Open "dsn=property;pwd=xxx;" theConnection.Open "dsn=property;database=property;server=xxx_se;host=xxx;service=se7;protocol= sesoctcp;uid=xxx;pwd=xxx;" is my open statement ok? i have also tried the intersolve drivers that came with the informix client sdk, but i got the following error message: [INTERSOLV][ODBC Informix driver]Optional feature not implemented. Any suggestions? Are there any good faq's on using asp and informix odbc drivers around? Thanks Matthew Luckie kluckie@ihug.co.nz http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~kluckie/
Get the absolute latest version of the Informix ODBC driver and the latest service pack for Visual Studio, ADO/MDAC, NT, etc. It works for me with SDK 2.40 / Informix 7.23, Studio SP3, ADO 2.1 SP1, NT4 SP4. Run regcopy.exe. Try connecting in a development environment first (from Visual Interdev). Turn on ODBC trace from ODBC administrator. I've never gotten the Intersolv driver to work (same error). The Informix driver required waving several dead chickens (see above). Good Luck... Try verifying the connection with other tools like iLogin, and then MS-Access via ODBC. Also, you did not indicate what is on the IIS 4.0 side - do you also have the Internet Explorer installed ? An IE installation will cause the IIS to do transparent challenge/response authentication Easiest way out is to type an invalid password in the anonymous user account of the IIS. Nona
