The warning is there because C-ISAM uses a different locking method than SE did, so you won't get proper concurrency control between the two. That will be the case until/unless SE is re-released with the same locking method. -- Alan Denney yosemite at accesscom.com Not a spokesman for Yosemite Botanical Munitions Inc. or Access Compost Supply.
It works fine on HP-UX 10.20 - cisam and SE data/index are fully compatible. As for being incompatible under the aspect of different number of indices (as posted in this thread) - the number of indexes added has to be done explicitly under cisam so in order to be compatible, one has to add the extra index which is added as default by SQL. I tried finding the reference given about incompatibilty in any documentation files available with the product but could not find anything. If you could please post the source of this statement. If the locking mechanisms would be different, why is the byte in the index file defining the locking mechanism the same in both index files (Cisam, SE)? Also, both versions (Cisam, SE) are same: 7.24.UC5 on the same hardware platform. One would expect it to be compatible leaving the fact why it is not open to speculation.
