Right, AFAIK... somebody here posted that they had success with 4GL
after installing a backward-compatibility compiler package and
specifying that (gcc-based) compiler executable in INFORMIXC.

Why would you use 7.24.UC5 rather than Client 2.10's ESQL/C?

Uh, I don't like this at all. All of your Informix products should
be installed in a *single* INFORMIXDIR... I don't think you can
mix and match across multiple INFORMIXDIRs, can you?

But where are the entries for IDS's and Client's shared libraries?
Again, I think you need everything in one INFORMIXDIR, then bring in
lib, lib/esql, lib/tools, etc. (e.g. lib/c++, lib/cli, lib/dmi, if
you need them too) into LD_LIBRARY_PATH.

It's only for soctcp, and I haven't had a chance to look into it...
this message is VERY odd for Red Hat 6.0, though. Is this a beta
version of Red Hat? Was an improper patch applied (and/or a package
that was designed for 5.x only?)

Try running ldd against the executable and make sure that any needed
shared libraries are available in LD_LIBRARY_PATH -- again, that install
setup bothers me.

I feared compatibility issues here also, and I was somewhat shocked to
encounter NONE during the IDS certification on RH 6.0. But 4GL puts
a different kind of demand on compiler/linker problems...
