Just curious. I avoid putting anything on the root filesystem if at all possible, mostly for recovery purposes. In my production environment, in fact, I go so far as to put the root filesystem on one controller and point other filesystems to other controllers, so that if a controller goes south, I don't have to rebuild multiple filesystems. There is a limit, of course, to how far you can take this, but I have /home, /var, /usr and / on separate disks and controllers. It gets expensive in terms of hardware, but it has also saved me hours of recovery time. Kurt
