Re: Multiple DAT Drive Backup

Paul,
We have always used compression on our HP9000. The device name of
/dev/rmt/#hc has always worked well, both on backing it up and restoring
it. We have always needed intervention anyway though because of our db
size (42gig). We were up to 8 DAT tapes and almost a whole shift to complete
a backup. Then we went to a DLT drive. The entire db fits on 1 tape and can
be backed up in about 2 hours. Ain't technology great??
Dave
p.s On your tape parameters you need to set the block size on the backup
device at 64(according to HP tech support) and with a tape size of
8000000 (is that enough zeros??) for the DAT tape to work right.
